In the name of 'Black History Month' we present to you a series of Black films and discussions.

Sunday, Feb 11th - The Watermelon Woman
The Watermelon Woman is a 1996 feature film by filmmaker Cheryl Dunye about Cheryl, a young black lesbian working a day job in a video store while trying to make a film about a black actress from the 1930s known for playing the stereotypical "mammy" roles relegated to black actresses during the period. It was the first feature film directed by a black lesbian.
Climate change is happening now.
This Sunday, The films shown will show ways climate change is affecting the people in far-reaching ways. Followed by what will be an amazing conversation and critique amoungst ourselves.

6:30::: Lamb – Yared Zeleke
Ephraim, a young half-Jewish Ethiopian boy, is forced to live with his Uncle’s family in the countryside after the death of his mother. His uncle threatens to eat Ephraim’s only friend (a small lamb by the name of Chani) for a religious feast. This touching coming of age story reveals how global climate change impacts families, and a side of Eastern Africa that the media insists on omitting from it’s portrayal of the continent.
7::: Swimming in Your Skin Again- Terence Nance
Set in the hot and humid swamps, churches and coastal oases of South Florida, this magical, surreal tale engulfs pop culture and spiritual ritualism, channelling the nurturing convictions of love and relationships.
The event begins at 6:00pm // screening begins at 6:30pm
