'Do Dreams Remember?'

is a recollection of my time in Igatu, Brazil in March 2022.

Brazil and more specifically Bahia has held a special place In my heart since I first got to travel there during a study abroad program as a sophmore at Howard University. It was there that I was Intimately Introduced to the orishas, where I had my first kiss with a man and with a woman) and what brought me In closer relationship with my body and the land. My family Is from Southeastern Louisiana and I grew up In Central Maryland, oftentimes I felt like I didn't belong, my family foods and traditions foriegn to the rest of my peers. As I grew older I was able to bring pieces of my heritage Into my work, and as I traveled I saw the parallels In my own experience living In the US with the Afro-Descendant people living In Salvador. I made friends, enemies and lifelong memories. But It Is through my dreams the Brazil let's me know that It's not done with me yet, messages traveling through etheral oceans that carry messages of belonging and home. It Is an hon or to be able to photograph and share such beautiful people and scenes through my work.

And this Is my first attempt at self-publishing a snapshot of how

I see the world.
